It is a great pleasure for us to invite you to take part of the First
International Conference on Environmental, Industrial and
Applied Microbiology (BioMicroWorld2005), organized from the Spanish city of
Badajoz and open to researchers all over the world through Information and Communication
Technologies. A high level and cross-disciplinary Applied
Microbiology meeting, also covering Educational aspects.
Microbiology
is about the study of microorganisms (bacteria,
viruses, algae, fungi, and protozoa) and of
related topics such as microbes interactions, the
immune response and molecular genetics. Applied
Microbiology is quite interdisciplinary,
overlapping aspects of several other academic
branches, some of them tradicionally near, such as
physiology, parasitology,
biochemistry, genetics, medicine, pharmacology,
and medical technology, and other not so near as
physical (bio)chemistry, applied physics, materials science, nanotechnology,
computer science, information technology,
instrumentation, etc., but collaboration with which is
resulting in extraordinary advances in this post-genomic
world. Thus, cross disciplinary cooperation in
Microbiology has possibilited microbiologist to
study not only traditional microorganisms, but
also aspects of molecular genetics, biosensors and
other microbial devices,
cancer, aging, inmunodeficiency deseases, animal
and plant cell cultures, and microscopy, among
others. Modern
microbiology includes a broad variety of scholarly
approaches leading to a better understanding of
all living things at the macroscopic, microscopic/single-cell
and nanoscopic/molecular level, producing beneficial applications
in medicine,
agriculture,
industry, and
ecology.
The Conference will specially welcome papers
reporting interdisciplinary researchers, relating
Microbiology with other Sciences as Physico/chemistry,
Environmental Sciences, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Genetics, Pharmacology, Microscopy/Imaging
Science, etc.
In other words, we are specially (but not
exclusivelly) interested in reports applying the
techniques, the training, and the culture of
Microbiology to research areas usually associated
with other scientific and engineering disciplines. With this interdisciplinary perspective, you are cordially invited to
actively participate in this International Conference as presenter, attendee, reviewer,
sponsor, exhibitor...
We look forward to seeing you in Badajoz !
