ABSTRACTS - SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM - REGISTRATION

Late-breaking abstracts can be submitted no later than 21 May 2012.

Only proposals for poster or virtual presentations can be submitted at this stage (abstract submission for oral presentation is now closed) Abstracts can be one-page long (at most) and must be submitted using the conference management tool: Abstract Submission

Accepted late-breaking abstracts of registered participants will be included in the Book of Abstracts (although they could be included in a specific section)

All authors who submitted abstracts before 9 May should have received formal notifications of abstract acceptance/rejection. Those authors who have not received any notifications, please contact the Conference Secretariat at info@emr2012.org as soon as possible

The list of ACCEPTED ABSTRACTS can be consulted by

(this list is being updated daily)

The definitive version of the scientific program will be available by early June (participants will be informed about it by email). And a preliminary version of this program will be available on this website by mid-May.

The scientific program will start on Wednesday 20 June 2012 at 11:00 AM, although there will be a registration period from 9:00 to 11:00 AM (in any case, attendees will be able to register at the secretariat desk at any time during the conference). The conference will finish on Friday 22 June 2012 around 7:00 PM.

Deadline for registration: 23 May 2012

Registration is mandatory for ALL participants (including onsite registrants). All those works with no author registered by 23 May 2012 will not be included in the scientific program. Should you be unable to register in time, please email us no later than 23 May 2012 so that your accepted work can be included in the program.
All registration details can be checked at the Registration section

ACCOMMODATION - VISA

Information about hotels with which the EMR2012 Conference has agreed reduced fees is available in the Accommodation section.

Given the limited number of rooms reserved for the Conference, participants are strongly recommended to book their accommodation as soon as possible (preferably one month before the conference takes place. Later, it can be more difficult and expensive to find appropriate accommodation)

All participants coming from countries whose nationals need a visa to enter Spain should have received the official signed and stamped invitation letters. We strongly recommend early visa application at the corresponding Spanish Embassy or Consulate. If you need further assistance from our side, please let us know as soon as possible.

THE CONFERENCE

The Energy&Materials Research Conference (EMR2012), which will take place in Torremolinos (Malaga, Spain) from 20 to 22 June 2012, will bring together researchers and professionals from a broad set of science and engineering disciplines with the aim of sharing the latest developments and advances in materials, processes and systems involved in the energy generation, transmission-distribution and storage.

In the current situation, where world's energy system is likely to radically change in the next decades, research into materials, processes and systems is currently foreseen as a critical aspect in the development of cleaner and more efficient energy. In this conference series, researchers from very different academic backgrounds (from semiconductor physicists or organic chemists exploring new ways for improving conversion efficiency within solar cells, or electrochemists pursuing better performance and durability of fuel cell components, to microbiologists deepening on how engineered microorganisms can be exploited for generating useful energy, or engineers conceiving new designs for power plants), but with an unique interest in contributing to the global energy and environmental challenges, are expected to meet in a truly interdisciplinary atmosphere.

Areas or research covered will include:

  Energy from biomass - Biofuels

   Solar energy:
         Photovoltaics;
Concentrating photovoltaics
         Concentrating solar power; Solar thermal

  Fuel cells

  Hydrogen

Wind power. Wave, tidal and hydropower.

       Geothermal energy

  Non-renewable energy sources: nuclear

       and fossil fuels

  Energy transmission-distribution and storage

  Lighting and energy-efficient buildings

  Energy saving and sustainability

Please, take some time to read the detailed list of
Topics that will be discussed at the conference.

The proceedings of the meeting will be formally released as a book, titled "Fuelling the future: advances in science and technologies for energy generation, transmission and storage", and will be published by BrownWalker Press (Boca Raton, FL, USA), which will ensure an adequate international distribution and availability of the book.

Conference participants will be entitled to submit one full paper to be considered for inclusion in this book. Deadline for submission 18 July 2012. More details here

TORREMOLINOS (MALAGA, SPAIN)

The conference will take place in Torremolinos (Malaga, Spain). Torremolinos, which is considered as today Spain’s top tourist destination, is a small city on the Costa del Sol (coast in the south of Spain) The city has evolved over the last few decades to become an attractive resort, focused around its long, sandy and clean beaches, and offering a huge variety of entertainment, leisure facilities and exuberant nightlife. Torremolinos has a wonderful climate with 320 days of sunshine every year. Daily summer temperatures are almost every day over 30˚C, and with yearly averages of 22˚C.
