Friday, December 5th: Guided visit through Merida
(detailed program to be announced)

Extremadura is an amalgam of climates, habits, and buildings that form its art and history heritage, environmental values, fauna and flora... definitively a cross of different cultures in a vast and diverse region.

The traveller who wants to know it can design a series of routes that let him know in one weekend the cuisine, handicraft, feasts, monument or landscapes offered in the region he or she is visiting. Here are fifteen one-weekend suggestions, classified according to the topic involved:

World Heritage

We link the town of Mérida, of which roman monuments were declared World Heritage in 1993, with Cáceres, that obtained the title in 1986 through the major road 630, that partially follows the Via de la Plata (Silver Way) to end up at the Guadalupe Monastery, also World Heritage according to the UNESCO, going back to the starting point through Navalvillar de Pela; we can enjoy there a Feast of tourist interest: "La Encamisá" and, before reaching Merida, enjoy the Roman Dam and the Cornalvo Natural Reserve.

Mérida: Entrance to the Roman Amphitheatre

Mérida: arena of the Roman Amphitheatre

Mérida: the Roman Theatre

Mérida: stage of the Roman Theatre

National Museum of Roman Art

The Museum of Roman Art in Merida is well worth the visit. Roman statues, mosaics and artifacts populate this excellent museum.

Located across the street from the Roman Theater and Anfiteatro, the museum is easy to include in your visit to Merida.

Below are a few photographs.
