Effective cross-cultural collaboration in on-line
environment:
iCamp project perspective
Jan Markovic
and Joanna Kisielewska
iCamp is an international
research project aiming at creating technical and pedagogical environments and
techniques that facilitate online cooperation between academics in an enlarged Europe. This article focuses on
propositions how to foster cross-cultural collaboration. After defining how the
latter term is understood in the project context, it is then argued that it can
be improved by concentrating both on the task itself and on the underlying
interpersonal relationships. Tools and services which can be helpful in
achieving that goal are presented. These include LMSs
and free online services (social software, blogs).
Reasons for selecting specific ones are given.
All this is set within the context of the first
project trial, during which students from four countries will collaborate. It
is described how theoretical ideas will be implemented.
